1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Serenity Mix mobile app ("the app"), available on Google Play. It explains what information the app handles, what stays on your device, and what (if anything) is shared with third parties.
2. Information the app does not collect
The app does not ask you to create an account, and does not collect or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your precise or approximate location
- Contacts, photos, or files other than an audio file you explicitly choose to import
- Voice recordings — the app plays audio, it does not record it
3. Information stored on your device
The app stores the following data locally on your device only, using Android's standard app storage:
- Favorites — which built-in sounds you've marked as favorites
- Saved scenes — the combinations of sounds and volume levels you've mixed and named
- Custom tones — any custom frequency or binaural beat presets you've created
- Imported audio references — if you import an audio file from your device, the app keeps a reference (and playback permission) to that file so it can be played again later; the file itself is never copied to our servers, because we don't have any
- App settings — playback preferences and appearance options you've chosen
None of this data is uploaded anywhere. If you export a saved scene to a file (a small text file describing which sounds and volumes make up that scene) and choose to share it, that sharing happens entirely through the Android share sheet — a service of your choosing, not ours.
4. Permissions the app uses
Android requires apps to declare permissions for certain capabilities. Here is what each one is used for:
| Permission | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|
| Notifications | To show playback controls in the notification shade and on the lock screen while sounds are playing in the background. |
| Foreground service (media playback) | So sound can keep playing after you switch to another app or lock your phone. |
| Ignore battery optimizations (optional) | Only requested if you turn this on yourself in Settings, to reduce the chance of background playback being stopped by the system. |
| File access (per file, via the system file picker) | Only when you choose to import your own audio file. The app never receives broad access to your storage — only to the specific file you pick. |
5. Third-party services
The app uses Google's official In-App Review library so you can rate the app without leaving it. This interaction is handled entirely by Google Play and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Most sound effects bundled with the app come from Pixabay, with some from Freesound. These are audio assets, not services — using them does not involve sharing any of your data.
The app does not currently include advertising or analytics SDKs. If this changes in a future update, this policy will be updated first, and the change will be reflected in the app's Play Store data safety disclosure.
6. Children's privacy
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children, in part because we do not collect personal information from anyone.
7. Data deletion
Because everything the app stores lives only on your device, you are always in full control of it. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes your favorites, scenes, custom tones, and settings completely. There is no account or server-side copy to separately request deletion of.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way — for example, if a future version of the app adds advertising, analytics, or an account system — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
